A few weeks later and the windshield has been removed, the seating is torn out and functioning as supports, and I’m hard at work stripping the bottom. Morgan supervises.
After the bottom was stripped and sanded, and the full extent of the corrosion could be assessed, the decision was made to sheath the bottom in a layer of 6 oz. S-glass set in WEST System epoxy with selective reinforcements around the keel and strakes. This fiberglass layer should server the dual purpose of strengthening the weaker areas, and providing a substantial barrier against the possibility of future corrosion.
